sharing from my heart to yours
Well I have a few things for you today. The first is a technical update on the website. As most of you know, when I first started this site, it was a way to market and sell some of my handmade creations to all of you. As my life changed (I mostly blame my babies...SO worth it!) and my style continues to shift, I made the decision to shut down the shop part of my site. I kept the site going, planning to use my blog to continue to update my friends and readers about my life (especially since we moved cross country). I also have used my blog to document and share my craft projects, with a possibility of accepting custom orders from any of you. I have now changed my site so that this page (my blog) is my home page. This changed my site address, which means if you follow me via and feed readers or RSS, you will need to update the address to receive future blog posts. www.whispersofjoy.com Also, I am going to make a confession! I struggle with this blog! ... ... Oh. Yeah. You already knew that! It's only a LITTLE bit obvious, with my lack of consistency in posting :) I guess the thing is, I truly enjoy blogging and I would love to be able to regularly post and update. But as many times as I have made resolutions to do better and post more often, I have come to realize that at this point in my life, it's just not reality. Keeping up with my 3 preschool/toddler age kids, my husband, my home, and the other basic commitments and activities we are involved in, my blog is NOT a priority. And I've come to accept that. Now I just hope my readers do to! :) I have decided that I WILL keep my blog, but won't try to force myself to be a committed blogger. I will post when I feel like it. When I have something to share; be it a project, kid update, topic, question, or WHATEVER! Some weeks I might post 3 times, and some MONTHS I may not post at all. It's all about flexibility. Forced blogging isn't fun anyways. Sometimes when I read other blogs, I'm inspired. Then I wish that I could do better here at Whispers of Joy. Then I get discouraged again. So there's my struggle. And now that I shared with you the way this blog will work from now on, you know too. Come back when you can! Hopefully there will be new things on occasion. On to the fun announcement... I'll be doing another booth at a local bazaar this year! Remember this and this? The craft events that I participated in throughout past years were so much fun to me. This year seemed like a good one to jump back into the craziness. We've lived in Minnesota for about a year and a half now, so we feel pretty settled into our home (that's a whole other store for another time) and life here. Also, here's my 'baby': Yeah...not really. :( So anyways, since I don't have any clinging attachments right now, I thought it would be a good time to do it. For the last couple of months I have been collecting, crafting, re-purposing, painting, sewing, gluing, sanding, designing, and creating. What fun! I have expanded a bit, and don't do as much for baby supplies as I used to. I have discovered that variety is more interesting, so I have expanded into different products, styles, and designs. I enjoy creating a lot more when I can try new things and have a more unique products, in comparison to having many of one thing. That's another reason why I quit selling the way I was on this site. I STILL have a bunch of pacifier clips from when I 'mass produced' them a few years ago! I still use them for Vayah, give them as gifts, and so on, but got burned out on making so many! Lesson learned! Here's a sneak peek of a few of the many things I've been working on lately... As you can see... a little mix of this and that. There's so much more, but this is just a little hint of some of my new things.
I may be putting a few things up on here in the next couple of months for sale before the craft show. Or maybe not. You know me! ;) Either way, whatever doesn't sell at the bazaar WILL be available for sale online soon after. If you see something you like that you'd like to pre-order, let me know! I'm always up for custom orders for my readers. AND.... as many of you have probably been waiting for... there WILL be a giveaway!! I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do it before my bazaar (Nov 2nd), or after, when I share ANOTHER big secret, but will keep you updated and let you know. Throw some ideas at me... what kind of prize would you like? Baby items? Home Decor? Christmas Decor? Party/Photo Props? Gift Certificate? Help me choose! I want to give something that YOU want to win! I'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks for being patient with me as a blogger. Your support is so much appreciated. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Big Event!! There's lots happening at Whispers of Joy this week! What do you think of the new look on the site? I decided we needed a facelift...something a little brighter. Think spring! I'm also hoping it's a little more readable and organized. There are new prices on many items and a new gift set on the Specialty page! There's also another giveaway at the Treasure Chest for you to enter! Also check out the blog post about it for more chances to enter! You can also get your little darling's picture on the site and qualify to enter to win a Gift Certificate at The Secret Gallery! You've probably noticed the new picture in the heading logo. Aren't they cute?! They are actually my little cousins and they look so adorable in the spring setting there! I did a photo contest through Facebook when I started this site and received some fun pictures of little Whispering Kiddos! :) I decided to keep that up here and give everyone a chance to 'make the page' and win a gift certificate. Check out more details at the Secret Gallery. VOID[Then if you hunt really hard and really fast... you could win another great prize (only the first 5 qualifty)! Basically, I have a hidden webpage that you can only find through ONE link on this entire site. Do some browsing and find it...cuz it's a secret and I'm not gonna tell you where it is! But if you're one of the first 5 people to find it AND fill out the form there, you'll win a special gift! Better start hunting! :)]VOID Five people have found the link- I have now removed it! I will contact the winners and soon! :) The long awaited Holiday Artisan Fair has already come and gone! December is just flying by!! (my baby -due Jan 8th- will be here before I know it!) The bazaar was a lot of fun, visiting with vendors and shoppers, checking out other tables, and enjoying sharing my goods with others! Here's a quick snapshot of the Whispers of Joy table I have been doing quite a bit of crafting, not only for items for the fair, but also for myself, my baby, and my home. Christmas is a fun time to try new things!
I plan to take a few photos of some of my latest projects and share them in upcoming posts. I may even add a few new items for sale at Whispers of Joy! I also have a possible new product line coming. It will either be in the next couple weeks, or will be put off until later this winter when the baby is here and things settle down in our home! So keep coming back to see me and check if there is anything new being sold or ideas posted for you to try! Thanks for stopping! The 5th Annual Artisan Fair will be held at Kurea Furnishings 16320 Ne 202nd Ave Brush Prairie, WA Dec 3rd-4th (may end up being only the 4th) Here's a preview of some of the products that will be there from Whispers of Joy... There may also be a giveaway for all those who stop by and say hello!
Come back for more details! Hope to see you there! Well I've been busy crafting, sewing, gluing, painting, cutting, and creating for the Artisan Fair coming up next month! One of these days I'll get some sneek peek picture previews of some of the items that I plan to sell. It is scheduled for Dec 3rd and 4th, so plan to come one of those days if you're in the area! It's SO worth it... there are some awesome booths and it's a fun time!
Photo credit So after the success we had at the first bazaar... we were quite disappointed after the day was over since this last one. :( We headed to set up on Friday night and were quite excited as (even though we got the last table) we had an awesome location, there were tons of vendors, and it was in a main traffic area of town. We expected our business to exceed the last. So we set up another adorable booth with even more products (that we had slaved late into the night the previous week to do) and hoped for the best! :) Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side this weekend! The days before didn't bode well as the weather-man predicted freezing rain and winter weather advisories were set throughout the area. This, along with the possibility of not enough advertising, kept everyone at home for the day! We had very few shoppers and all the vendors were disappointed! Most of the buying/trading was going on between sellers. I think it would have been a great sale if the weather would have been better, but it doesn't always go as we hope! Thanks Shanna for helping out and keeping me company throughout the day!
Just thought I'd share a few pictures with you as I progress... Mass Perfect Pacis! Ok... well for me anyways! I'VE never made so many... and I bet YOU'VE never seen this many! The Sort-n-Stash Pocket collection is growing too! I'm having fun packaging, ribbon-ing, zip-ping, and creating! Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven I think it's about time to rest... well... maybe after Saturday! :) PS. I'd recommend reading the rest of that passage! Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 and on through the rest of the chapter. It is so reassuring that there really is a time meant for everything, both good and bad.
